FAQ

  • Which class is best for my child?

Our classes are developmentally age specific. In most cases we recommend matching your child’s age (in months) to the class age bracket. Where unsure select the younger class or email [email protected] for more specific advice.

  • Why is an age appropriate curriculum advantageous?

Children naturally engage with music. We can enhance developmental benefits to the child if they are joyously engaged in activities that are not only achievable (and therefore offer a sense of success) but offer challenges for growth personally and musically. It is unfair to expect a 15mth old to manage the activities capable of a 3 year old nor a 3 year old to be sufficiently challenged by the content presented to a baby.

  • How often should our child engage in the lesson?

The more the children engages the more beneficial to whole child development. Daily music making sessions with family support are recommended.

  • Why choose video lessons?

All regular content is included in the video lesson package in a structured way to offer a class as close to person to person as possible while still giving families the option to participate at their convenience and multiple times.

  • How does the curriculum of each class level change?

Class curriculum includes musical activities that address all areas of the child’s development: physical, emotional and social. From babies to prep age the content and presentation of curriculum continues to build from the foundation level onwards.

  • How does making music differ from just observing?

Skill development is a focus of this program such that children are encouraged to practice and reproduce the music presented in the classroom rather than just observing. MAKING the music actively engages the whole brain and stimulates growth across all areas of child development.

  • What should we expect in every class?

Each lesson contains a sequence of activities including greeting songs, beat and rhythm practice, vocal and language development, fine and gross motor development, expression and creative play, development of social and personal confidence to name a few.

Within a fun and playful framework we use instruments pitched and unpitched, singing, mime, tickle rhymes, beat activities, movement free and simply choreographed, puppets, props, chair games and more.

  • What do we need at home?

To enhance the learning for the child we recommend a parent/carer supports them during the classes. Family involvement significantly enhances the joy and bonding experience. We also recommend having instruments handy for the lessons. If you don’t have any at home we can offer hire (while stocks last in Brisbane Metro) or purchase option but homemade is fine too. • When is my child ready to move to the next age level class?

This is very subjective and difficult to address without personal consultation with a teacher. Generally, a child is ready to progress when they are showing confidence and mastery of most of the areas of content. However, there are several factors to consider.
